L.A. County stay-at-home order will 'with all certainty' be extended nearly three months

Los Angeles County, the epicenter of California's coronavirus outbreak, is almost certain to extend its stay-at-home mandate until August, the Los Angeles Times first reported.
County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer told the Board of Supervisors Tuesday that the quarantine order will "with all certainty" be in effect through the next two and a half months.
"Our hope is that by using the data, we’d be able to slowly lift restrictions over the next three months," she said at the supervisors meeting. Only a "dramatic change to the virus and tools at hand" would shorten the timeline.
Experts believe without widespread testing and a robust contact-tracing program to identify people who came in contact with COVID-19 patients, it will be difficult to safely reopen the state. Los Angeles County also hasn't hit a key benchmark for reopening: a decline in cases and deaths for 14 days.

Another Liberal run state telling you what you can and can't do.

Rise up California. Stop taking this bullshit. The State of California is your King George.

This takes the Dodgers and Angels out the picture for an MLB opening in July. They would be forced to play at spring training facilities for at least a month for home games. Also eliminates any NBA or NHL games being played there along with Rams and Chargers training camp. Not sure they practice in LA County so I could be wrong.

A revolution or riot is coming to California if this state is closed thru July ......goodness sakes, most of the summer inside a house, this will get ugly quick.

It is totally funny that this public health director is espousing that massive testing and contact tracing is what is best
when I go and read research and hear experts who deal with this day in and day out for their whole career say that testing at this point is
pretty much useless except for at hospitals, long term/nursing facilities, and people who are showing signs of having it.
Hospitals and long term facilities should be testing everyone who comes into the building on a daily basis.

Also the experts say that contact tracing at this point is useless, contact tracing is at the start of a pandemic to try and stop it from spreading not in the middle of it when so many have already been exposed.

So as you see another political health hack is making decisions not based on scientific protocols and data.

Pretty much looks that way in MA also, as Charlie "Parker" Baker is saying we are reopening but has not details and has so many step backs in place if anything goes on when we reopen slowly, very slowly he will shut everything back down again.

I need a haircut and am driving to NH tomorrow for one. I will be giving them my business...

Jesus Christ, if LA is shut down that long, their homeless might have to get jobs!

LOTS of barely-hidden agendas, starting to become more clear...

LA County's coronavirus stay-at-home order may drag on through July or August, official warns

I think they literally want to see a civil war/riots, etc......so they can implement a total surveillance state like China has........this will get ugly.

I have a guess but may be wrong...

It's always the middle class.......if it wasn't for the middle class, there wouldn't be any billionaires......the country survives off of the middle class.

the irony that 1.5M healthcare workers lost their jobs last month in the middle of a pandemic should not be lost on anyone.

folks getting restless in the Cal thread (health care workers, docs);

I feel like Cali is actively trying to self destruct at this point. How is this sustainable

It’s not sustainable. I don’t know about you but here in LA, it’s a disaster. There are more homeless here than ever with the city letting them do whatever they want, businesses are not able to open, people are hassling others to wear masks in their front yards, and offices are being held hostage because of this hysteria. We know more about infection control than these county health directors, yet they are telling US how and when we can work? No, thank you.
I have been wanting to leave LA and California now for awhile. I thought it might be a large earthquake or something catastrophic like that to be the thing that makes me leave my childhood home but no. It’s going to be this, not the coronavirus virus but the BS and the pathetic way this city and state is handling it

...........................

Dr.Birx told a story early in the pandemic about her grandmother. I believe Birx's mother, as a child, passed the swine flu to HER mother (Birx's grandmother) and it killed her. Birx's mother was ridden with guilt for the rest of her life. Birx herself hears these stories, becomes a public health doctor, and is now making decisions for the entire country. I like Birx, and she seems reasonable, but that background must play a role in her decision making progress.

And our County Health Director said in an article that his father died on the H1N1 virus.

So for San Diego residents, the fate of their reopening and their freedom is based on the decisions of two people who directly lost loved ones from viral infections.

Who cares if they want to stay shut.....its their opinion on the situation, but they damn sure shouldn't be asking for federal relief. If they are fine with that it's all cool in my book. Just raise local taxes to cover the shutdown
